Ideally I would like to submit to local awards and then take the successful images forward into higher award levels. However, the deadlines for all competitions were quite close together and I decided just to enter “At the Docks” to receive feedback for my experimental pinhole image. Trying it with a variety of judges would give a general appeal level.
“At the Docks” then recieved top honours at the Professional Photographers of Canada (PPOC) BC BC Salon as well as Most Creative Image. With Master Photographers International (MPIO) it achieved an Award of Distinction and Best of Class and was part of the successful entry for Fine Art Photographer of the Year. And now it came 4th in the IPA awards this year. So I guess the general impression is pretty high and I should go out and do some more experimenting with pinhole photography!
